Maharashtra's job fair has drawn 1,588 registered employers offering 71,939 openings, with registrations expected to cross 2,500 by September 29
A programme conceived by Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha to create diverse job opportunities for the state's youth is now taking shape. The Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Vishwavikrami Rozgar Mahakumbh has received a strong response from leading companies and industry bodies. So far, 1,588 employers have registered, offering 71,939 primary job opportunities.
Companies and institutions taking part in the job fair include Tata Motors, Mahindra and Mahindra, Godrej Enterprises Group, LIC, HDFC, ICICI, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finance, Maruti Suzuki, Bosch, Endurance Technologies, Asian Paints, JSW Steel, UltraTech Cement, CEAT and Thermax. Firms from the automobile, manufacturing, banking, financial services, IT, education, healthcare, logistics and other sectors are offering positions, allowing youth with different educational qualifications and skills to find jobs suited to them.
Opportunities are available for both freshers and experienced candidates. There are vacancies for candidates with ITI, graduate, HSC, diploma, engineering and other skill-based qualifications, for posts including technician, machine operator, fitter, electrician, mechanic, trainee, apprentice, sales and customer service. Youth will also get a chance to work in government-linked institutions.
Given the response the job fair has received, the number of registered employers is expected to cross 2,500 by September 29. More companies and industry bodies are likely to join in the coming days, further increasing the job opportunities available to youth. The Mahakumbh is an attempt to match industry's manpower needs with the skills of young people. Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha said the initiative would prove significant in providing employment opportunities to the state's youth while also meeting industry's manpower requirements.
Ahead of the Rozgar Mahakumbh scheduled for September 29, the Skill Development Department and the Mumbai Suburban District Collector's office held an employer round table on September 11 at the District Collector's office in Bandra East. The meeting, held on Mangal Prabhat Lodha's initiative, was attended by representatives from the manpower management departments of 32 leading industries and institutions in Maharashtra. Its aim was to boost industry's active participation in the job fair, understand their manpower needs and simplify the registration process for the job opportunities on offer.
