Former India captain and star batter Rohit Sharma has finally broken his silence on the rumours about his retirement. He made it clear that he has no plans to retire soon. The matter had been widely discussed in cricket circles ahead of the 2027 World Cup.

Rohit has already announced his retirement from Test cricket and T20s. He now plays only ODIs. For the past few months there had been growing talk that he would retire from ODIs too. It was also said that his ODI career would end after the England tour. When Rohit launched his TV show, reports also surfaced that he would quit cricket to focus on it. Now the "Hitman" has spoken on these rumours for the first time.

The remarks came on his show "Family Full House with Rohit Sharma". Actress Karisma Kapoor and actor Chunky Panday recently appeared on it along with several other celebrities. All of them answered fans' questions. One fan asked the guests what rumours they had heard about themselves. Karisma spoke about her diet, while Chunky dismissed the rumours that he is a miser.

Rohit also addressed the constant rumours about his retirement. On the show, he said he had heard, and was still hearing, that he was about to retire. He then said he hoped that all the rumours going around about the three of them would turn out to be false.

Here is how the rumours began. According to a report, former chief selector Ajit Agarkar had decided to leave Rohit out of the 2027 ODI World Cup plans and give Yashasvi Jaiswal a chance. Agarkar was said to have asked Pragyan Ojha to convey this to Rohit, as Ojha is a close friend of his. Rohit was reportedly upset with the decision and spoke to BCCI officials about it. It was also being said that the ODI at Lord's would be Rohit's last international match.

But Rohit later scored a brilliant century, and the BCCI made it clear that he would remain in the team as long as he is part of its plans. Rohit then performed well in the ODI series against the West Indies. His runs in that series also strengthened his claim for a place in the 2027 ODI World Cup.

The ODI series against New Zealand is now set to begin on November 4, and Rohit will be seen on the field once again.
