Repair and maintenance work on the railway underbridge on the Yadav Chowk to Ramnagar-Railtoli road, which connects the northern and southern parts of Gondia city, began on Thursday, October 22. The office of the Senior Divisional Engineer (Works) of South East Central Railway has issued a notice about it.
The work will continue for a week, and traffic on this road will be one-way during this period. The railway administration has appealed to commuters and drivers using the road to follow the traffic arrangements and cooperate.
The underbridge in Gondia city is Bridge No. 179 A. The railway administration has taken up the work in view of the need to repair it. The work is considered important for keeping traffic safe and smooth in future through necessary repair and maintenance of the bridge. To prevent congestion and accidents during the repairs, it has been decided to make traffic on the road one-way.
The railway administration has written to Ramnagar police station, City police station and the traffic police department, asking them to keep the one-way traffic arrangement running properly.
The work started late because of Durgotsav. The repair and maintenance was earlier scheduled for October 20 to 27, 2026. However, in view of the Durga Puja, immersion and Dussehra festivals, the start was pushed back by two days so that people would not be inconvenienced. For this reason, the repair work has now been taken up from October 22.
The railway administration has also asked people travelling on this road to use other routes as far as possible during the repairs. It has also asked them to follow the one-way traffic rules, so that congestion can be avoided and everyone is spared inconvenience.
