Rapper Vishay Khxl's song 'Santaap' trends on social media, voicing Gen Z's questions
Rapper Vishay Khxl's song 'Santaap', on education, students' questions and speaking up against injustice, is drawing a strong response online.
Rapper Vishay Khxl, who uses rap to voice the questions, restlessness and anger over social conditions felt by today's Gen Z, is in the news. His song 'Santaap' is trending on social media.
The rap carries a message about the education system, students' questions and raising one's voice against injustice. It puts young people's feelings in direct, outspoken words, which is why the song is getting a good response online.
Eminem has had a big influence on Vishay's musical journey. He says his first phone had only Eminem songs. "Eminem inspired me a lot in my writing, my rapping sense, my music sense, in flows and cadences," he says. His journey, however, did not begin as a rapper. "I am a music producer first and a rapper later," he says.
He began in music by making beats. Once, he dreamt that a friend with no connection to music had an MPC kit. The experience of that dream made him curious about beat making. From music production, his journey then moved towards rap.
'Santaap' is not driven by musical inspiration alone. There is also deep anger over social conditions behind it. The background of the students' agitation at Jantar Mantar for a better education system left Vishay restless. He has expressed through rap the anguish created in him by the neglect of the demands of students, who are called the future of the country, the injustice during the agitation and the incidents of insult to women students. The song 'Santaap' came out of this whole experience.
Vishay has a clear message. "When wrong things and injustice happen around us, we often ignore them. Where we see wrong, where we see injustice, we should raise our voice. Because without this, our country will not develop."
'Santaap' is thus no longer just a rap song. It is becoming a track that gives voice to Gen Z's questions, restlessness and social awareness. Given the response on social media, talk of Vishay's outspoken rap is likely to grow.
