Pune vlogger Malhar paid about Rs 5,300 for a first-class AC ticket on the Mumbai-Delhi Tejas Rajdhani, roughly the price of a flight, and his video has gone viral.
Most people choose to fly when travelling from Mumbai to Delhi. Pune-based vlogger Malhar took a different route. He bought a first-class AC ticket on the Tejas Rajdhani Express (train number 12951). The ticket cost him about Rs 5,300, roughly the same as a flight ticket. He still chose the train and shared his experience of the journey to Delhi in a video, which has quickly gone viral on social media.
Malhar shared the video from the Instagram handle @malhar_31. He said the 1AC fare appeared to be almost the same as a flight ticket, and he wondered why he should not try the premium Rajdhani experience.
The train covers the distance of about 1,384 km from Mumbai Central to New Delhi in about 15 hours 32 minutes. Its maximum speed is 130 km per hour. Malhar travelled in a 1AC coach, which offers facilities similar to a private coach.
In the video, Malhar describes the amenities on board in detail. Basic items such as clean bedsheets, pillows, newspapers and mirrors were provided. Meals and beverages were included in the ticket price. Passengers were served dinner, breakfast the next morning, and tea and coffee.
He praised the cleanliness of the coach, the behaviour of the staff and the comfortable journey. He also mentioned enjoying the scenic views from the window.
Malhar said plainly that a flight takes two to two and a half hours, but that the train offers a different experience. He advised viewers with more time to hand to travel by Rajdhani 1AC.
The video has been watched by lakhs of people. Many users praised the facilities on the train. Some wrote jokingly, "Bro, I could have flown for this much money!" Most, however, praised the premium services of Indian Railways.
The Tejas Rajdhani is considered one of the fastest and most premium trains on the Mumbai-Delhi route. In 1AC, passengers get more privacy, better food and greater comfort. Malhar's experience suggests that speed is not the only thing that matters in travel; the pleasure of the journey counts just as much. With fares almost the same, many people are now beginning to see the train as a good alternative.
