The overnight service will leave Varanasi at about 9 pm and reach New Delhi at about 6 am, stopping at four cities in Uttar Pradesh.

A Vande Bharat sleeper train between Varanasi and New Delhi will open to the general public from October 31. The train will leave Varanasi at about 9 pm and reach New Delhi at about 6 am, giving passengers a comfortable overnight journey.

En route, the train will stop at Prayagraj, Kanpur Central, Aligarh and Ghaziabad. With these halts, overnight rail connectivity is expected to improve for passengers travelling between several major cities of Uttar Pradesh and the national capital.

A Vande Bharat Express has been running on this route since 2019, and a sleeper train is now being added on the same route. To improve passenger convenience and safety, the sleeper train will have comfortable berths, charging points, modern toilets and separate space for luggage. CCTV surveillance will also be available.

The train is expected to be a very convenient option for students, professionals, traders and families. For tourists and pilgrims coming to Kashi, travel between New Delhi and Kashi will also become easier and more pleasant.

Varanasi draws people from across the country because of its religious and cultural importance. It has the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, the famous Ganga aarti and historic ghats. Visitors can tour Sarnath, visit traditional markets and enjoy the city's well-known local food.

Varanasi is also home to Banaras Hindu University (BHU), which makes it an important academic centre for students, researchers and academics.

The overnight service could thus benefit those travelling for religious journeys, education, business or family matters. The new train will make travel between New Delhi and Kashi easier for pilgrims, tourists, students and families.
