Central Railway's Pune division has tightened security at Pune railway station and separated entry and exit routes as passenger crowds keep growing.
Passenger crowds at Pune railway station are growing steadily. In view of this, security at the station has been tightened and arrangements for the movement of passengers have been redone. Central Railway's Pune division has separated the routes for entering and leaving the station.
Five baggage scanners have been installed at the station to check luggage, and 19 door-frame metal detectors have been put in place for screening passengers. These arrangements will make it easier to check any suspicious item and to take precautions for security.
Separate routes for passengers have been fixed at three locations: the station's main entrance, the Chhatri Gate and the side towards Tadiwala Road. At Chhatri Gate, a separate entry has been created for passengers heading to platforms one to six. A separate exit has also been kept for passengers leaving the station.
The purpose of the arrangement is to avoid jostling and congestion during peak hours and to make passenger movement more orderly. With separate routes, passengers coming in and going out will not collide with one another.
To make security effective, all unauthorised routes of the station have been closed. Passengers must now enter the station only through the designated gates and leave only by the designated routes. This has been made mandatory for them.
The railway administration has appealed to passengers to cooperate with railway officials and security personnel during security checks. It has also asked passengers to use only the entry and exit routes fixed by the railways.
