Sumant alias Nanu Ravindra Dasare, 26, allegedly ran an online fraud racket from Dubai with Chinese cyber criminals and was detained there and brought to India.

The Pimpri-Chinchwad cyber police have arrested the alleged mastermind of an online fraud racket. According to police, the accused ran the racket from Dubai in partnership with Chinese cyber criminals. He was detained in Dubai with the help of Interpol and then brought to India.

The accused is Sumant alias Nanu Ravindra Dasare, 26, a resident of Nigdi Pradhikaran. The investigation has found that he used more than 157 bank accounts to receive money from cyber frauds.

FIR No. 42/2026 has been registered at the Pimpri-Chinchwad cyber police station. The case has been registered under Sections 318(4), 317(2), 61(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Police were investigating a gang that provided bank accounts for cyber frauds when Assistant Police Inspector Praveen Swami received information about Tushar Amraram Chaudhari. Tushar, 29, lives in More Vasti on Chikhli Road. It emerged that he opened bank accounts with the help of associates and received cyber fraud money in them.

Police arrested Tushar Chaudhari and Adarsh Santosh Waghmare and questioned them. Adarsh, 27, lives in Akurdi. The investigation found that the two opened accounts in different banks and passed their details to Sumant alias Nanu Dasare, who lives in Dubai. After the fraud money was deposited in these accounts, Tushar and Adarsh withdrew it by cheque. After keeping their commission, the rest was deposited through cash deposit machines (CDMs) into bank accounts specified by Sumant.

According to police, Sumant initially worked in Dubai on a salary of six thousand, making calls and sending messages for share trading and task frauds. He took various international cards from the Chinese accused and began buying expensive goods by swiping them at malls and other places. During this time he learnt the entire method of cyber fraud. He then began fraud operations in partnership with Chinese cyber criminals.

On the instructions of Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey, Assistant Police Inspector Praveen Swami gathered information on the accused. The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, issued a look out circular (LOC) against him. On the basis of this LOC, Sumant was detained in Dubai with Interpol's help and then deported to India. As soon as he reached Mumbai airport, Praveen Swami and his team took him into custody and arrested him at the Pimpri-Chinchwad cyber police station.

The action was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey, Joint Police Commissioner Dr Shashikant Mahavarkar, Additional Police Commissioner Sarang Awhad, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rohidas Pawar and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Cyber and Economic Offences) Rohini Bankar.
