A shocking incident has come to light from Patna, where a woman's charred body was found under the jurisdiction of Khajekalan police station, causing an uproar in the area. The woman lived in a rented house with her son. She has been identified as 60 year old Rekha Devi, also known as Manju Devi.

The woman's son has been named a suspect and accused of killing his mother. A case has been registered on this charge and police have begun their investigation. Police clarified that the charge has not yet been proven, meaning the accusation against the suspect is still to be established in court.

ASP Rajkishore Singh said the mother and son frequently had arguments over drug use. On learning of the incident, officers from Khajekalan police station reached the spot near Dulli Ghat and took the body into custody. Police examined the scene closely, after which an FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory) team also arrived and carried out a thorough examination, collecting the necessary evidence.

As part of the investigation, police have questioned the suspect son as well as nearby residents and are gathering the required information about the incident. Police are currently probing the case and trying to trace the suspect, while also trying to establish the exact reason behind the incident. They are working to piece together the facts from both the son's questioning and the statements of local residents.

ASP Rajkishore Singh further said that the exact cause of the elderly woman's death would become clear only once the post mortem report is received, and that the direction of further legal action would be decided after that. The post mortem report will thus be a crucial piece of evidence for the ongoing investigation. After the post mortem, the woman's last rites will be conducted under police supervision, following which further action will be taken against the suspect under the relevant sections, police said.
