The southwest monsoon has withdrawn from Maharashtra, but the effect of October heat continues. On Thursday, October 22, heat and humidity could add to people's discomfort in Mumbai, Thane and surrounding areas.
Strong sunshine is expected in Pune in the afternoon. Several cities in Vidarbha, including Nagpur, may also feel the heat during the day as temperatures rise. Mornings and late evenings may bring relative relief.
In Mumbai, the maximum temperature on October 22 is expected to be around 32 degrees Celsius and the minimum 28 degrees Celsius. The sky may remain hazy. Because of high moisture in the air, it may feel hotter than the actual temperature.
Parts of Thane, Palghar and Raigad are also likely to see hot and humid weather. According to the forecast, the weather in these areas may turn dry from October 23.
In Pune, strong daytime sun may cause discomfort. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 36 degrees and the minimum 21 degrees Celsius. The morning may be relatively pleasant, but the heat will rise in the afternoon. The sky will be mainly clear, with some clouds possible in the afternoon or evening. The forecast currently available carries no rain warning.
In Nagpur city in Vidarbha, the maximum temperature is expected to be around 34 degrees and the minimum 20 degrees Celsius. The sky may be partly cloudy, but the chance of rain is described as low. Because of the difference between day and night temperatures, mornings and evenings may bring relative relief.
Dry weather is likely in many parts of the state, including Mumbai and Pune. However, light rain or thundershowers may occur in places in Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts of the Konkan region. Conditions may differ from district to district, so it is important to keep track of local forecasts.
In view of the October heat, people should avoid stepping out into the sun in the afternoon without need. They should drink plenty of water and cover their heads when going out. In Mumbai and coastal areas, they should stay in ventilated places to get relief from the humidity. In Pune and Vidarbha, care should be taken during strong sunshine. The forecast may change, so keep checking for the latest updates.
