Oben Electric becomes India's top e-motorcycle seller in September with 1,417 units
Bengaluru start-up Oben Electric recorded its best monthly sales, 1,417 e-motorcycles, according to Vahan portal data for September 2026.
Electric scooters have so far dominated India's electric two-wheeler market, but customers appear to be shifting fast towards electric motorcycles. According to September 2026 data from the Vahan portal, Bengaluru start-up Oben Electric has become the country's top seller of electric bikes.
The company recorded sales of 1,417 e-motorcycles in September, its best monthly figure so far.
The company's much-discussed new bike, the Oben Rorr EVO, played a big part in the record. The company says customers liked it for its striking looks, powerful performance and ease of everyday use. The bike has received more than 25,000 bookings so far, and the company has raised its production.
The bike has a 3.4kWh LFP battery. The company claims it runs 180 km on a full charge.
It can reach a speed of 110 km/h, and goes from 0 to 40 km/h in just 3 seconds.
Charging costs are low too. Charging the bike costs only Rs 35, calculated at Rs 8 per unit. Its battery charges from 0 to 80 per cent in 90 minutes.
In the e-motorcycle race, Revolt Intellicorp was second with 1,027 units. Ultraviolette, which makes high-performance sports bikes, was third with 536 vehicles. Matter Motor Works (69 units) was fourth and Rapto Energy (17 units) fifth. Oben Electric alone accounts for about 46.2 per cent of the total sales of these five major companies.
Oben Electric's success is not limited to sales. The company makes most of the key parts of its vehicles, such as the LFP battery, motor, controller, charger and software, at its own factory in Bengaluru, spread over 3.5 acres. This gives the company full control over vehicle quality. The factory has an annual capacity of 1 lakh vehicles. Because of affordable travel and eco-friendly technology, customers are increasingly turning to this home-grown Oben bike.
