North Western Railway announces 2,008 apprentice slots, selection without written test
Online applications open on October 7 and close on November 6, with a merit list based on Class 10 and ITI marks.
North Western Railway has announced a total of 2,008 training slots under its Act Apprentice Recruitment 2026. The online application process for these posts will begin on October 7. Eligible and interested candidates can apply online until November 6.
Applications must be made on the official website of the Railway Recruitment Cell, Jaipur, rrcjaipur.in. The recruitment is under the Apprentices Act, 1961, for the 2026-27 session. The slots are in different departments and workshops of North Western Railway, including units linked to Ajmer, Bikaner, Jaipur and Jodhpur.
The 2,008 slots are divided among eight units. Jaipur division has the most, with 580 slots. Bikaner division has 524 and Ajmer division 500. Jodhpur division has 134, BTC Carriage Ajmer 101, BTC Loco Ajmer 69, Carriage Workshop Bikaner 33 and Carriage Workshop Jodhpur 67.
The slots cover several trades, including electrician, fitter, welder, carpenter, painter, mason, pipe fitter, diesel mechanic, turner, machinist, electronic mechanic, Computer Operator and Programming Assistant (COPA), mechanic tool maintenance, and refrigerator and air conditioner.
On education, a candidate must have passed Class 10 from a recognised board with at least 50 per cent marks. No rounding of marks will be accepted. Candidates must also hold a National Trade Certificate (NTC) in the relevant trade, issued by NCVT or SCVT.
The age on November 6, 2026 must be at least 15 and at most 24 years. Reserved categories will get relaxation in the upper age limit as per rules: five years for SC and ST candidates, three years for OBC and 10 years for candidates with disabilities (PwBD).
The notable feature of this recruitment is that there will be no written examination. A merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks in Class 10 and in the ITI for the relevant trade. The final selection will be made by unit, trade and category, based on the percentage of marks in both. If marks are equal, the older candidate will be preferred.

They then have to log in and fill in all personal and educational details in the application, upload the required documents and pay the prescribed fee. After the fee is paid, the form should be submitted, and the confirmation page downloaded and kept safe.
