No project or scheme approved in the budget under the Nagpur Municipal Corporation's Project Department-2 was left incomplete in the five financial years from 2021-22 to 2025-26, the department has stated. The information emerged in a reply to an application filed under the Right to Information Act, 2005.
The application had sought details of incomplete projects, including a department-wise list of projects, the sanctioned amount, the expenditure incurred and the reasons for delays in the work. It specifically sought details of projects approved in the corporation's budgets for the five financial years up to 2025-26.
In a letter dated October 16, 2026, the office of the Deputy Engineer and Public Information Officer (Project-2) informed RTI applicant Rajiv Ranjan Kushwaha that the information sought was "nil". The letter said this means the department had no incomplete project or scheme to record for the period.
The application was filed on August 6, 2026, and is recorded as received on August 10, 2026 under the relevant RTI register. The reply was given by Rajiv B. Gautam, Deputy Engineer and Public Information Officer of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation.
The letter also notes that if the applicant is not satisfied with the reply, a first appeal can be filed within 30 days. The appeal must be made to the designated First Appellate Authority, who is the Executive Engineer (Project-2). The office is on the fourth floor of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Administrative Building at the corporation's headquarters in Civil Lines, Nagpur.
In short, since no budget-approved project or scheme was incomplete during the five financial years, the department has no information to give on the sanctioned amount, expenditure or reasons for delay, the reply indicates.
The RTI reply represents the department's official position. Further verification of the completion status of the projects would require checking the records of the projects concerned and the accompanying documents.
