Good news for students who dream of a career in fashion design: the National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially opened the online application process for the entrance examination of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) for 2027.

Admission to NIFT, the country's best-known fashion institute, requires passing this national-level entrance examination. The test gives students admission to a range of sought-after design courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Online registration for the NIFT entrance exam 2027 began on October 16, 2026, and candidates who wish to sit the exam can fill in their forms now. The last date for online applications without a late fee is November 16, 2026.

Candidates who miss that date will have one more chance. They can submit the online application by paying an additional late fee of Rs 5,000 until November 21, 2026. A correction window will open from November 22 to November 25, 2026 for fixing any mistakes made while filling in the form.

According to the schedule announced by the NTA, the NIFT entrance exam will be held on January 10, 2027, in about 100 cities across the country. The advance city intimation slip for candidates will be issued on December 21, 2026. Candidates can then download their admit cards from January 4, 2027.

The entrance exam gives students admission to courses such as B.Des, B.F.Tech, M.Des and the Master of Fashion Management. Candidates applying for undergraduate courses must have passed Class 12 from any recognised board, while those applying for postgraduate courses must hold a graduation degree in a relevant subject.

On the exam pattern, the entrance test is held in two modes. The General Ability Test is conducted in computer-based mode, while the Creative Ability Test is held in pen-and-paper mode.

Interested students should first visit the official website of the National Testing Agency. Through the registration link on the homepage, they can enter their personal and academic details, upload the required documents and complete the application by paying the fee online.
