Recruitment through the Pavitra portal is under way to ease the shortage of teachers in Nagpur Zilla Parishad schools. Even so, not all vacant teaching posts have been filled so far.

Details of 510 vacant teacher posts in Zilla Parishad schools had been entered on the Pavitra portal. So far, 385 teachers have been appointed in two phases. Even after this, 125 teacher posts remain vacant.

In the first phase, 282 teachers were selected for Zilla Parishad schools. After verification of their documents was completed, appointment orders were issued and they were posted to the schools concerned. In the second phase, 103 teachers have been selected. Taken together, appointments have been made to 385 posts in the two phases.

The Zilla Parishad has received the list of teachers selected in the second phase. According to the education department, verification of these teachers' documents is still under way. Once it is complete, the 103 new teachers will join their respective schools next week.

Many Nagpur Zilla Parishad schools are currently run by a single teacher. When that teacher goes on leave, students' studies are at risk. In such situations, a teacher from a nearby or another school often had to be arranged temporarily.

In view of this problem, the recruitment has given priority to providing teachers to single-teacher schools. Emphasis has also been placed on filling vacancies in schools with larger student numbers. It is hoped that this will let students receive regular teaching.

Still, 125 posts remain vacant after the 385 appointments. Providing teachers to single-teacher schools and schools with more students therefore remains a challenge for the education department. Once the process of filling the remaining vacancies is complete, the teacher situation in Zilla Parishad schools is likely to improve further.
