Nagpur: Son stabs father with screwdriver in row over electricity bill, dies
A dispute over an electricity bill and household expenses in Nagpur's Lakadganj area turned deadly when a son allegedly stabbed his father.
A quarrel between a father and son over an electricity bill and household expenses in Nagpur's Lakadganj area escalated into bloodshed, leaving the father dead.
Lakadganj police have arrested Tushar Sahare. He is accused of stabbing his father Bablu Sahare in the stomach with a screwdriver following a heated argument near Akash Building in the Gangabai Ghat area.
According to police, Bablu was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when the dispute began over paying the electricity bill and household expenses. The argument, which started between husband and wife, later turned into a clash between Bablu and his son Tushar.
Police said the argument turned violent during this, with Bablu allegedly attacking Tushar and choking him.
The situation then worsened further, with Tushar allegedly retaliating by stabbing his father in the stomach with a screwdriver.
Bablu was severely injured in the attack and was immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Nagpur for treatment.
Despite doctors' best efforts, Bablu died during treatment.
Following the incident, Mamta Sahare went to Lakadganj police station and lodged a complaint.
Police subsequently registered a case against Tushar Sahare and arrested him. Investigating officers are now trying to determine exactly how the situation escalated to this violent clash.
Police are investigating the circumstances of both the alleged attack by the father and the subsequent stabbing by the son.
The incident has once again shown how everyday disputes over household expenses and electricity bills can turn into terrible violence.
Lakadganj police are continuing their investigation, which includes recording statements from family members and other circumstances related to the clash.
