Nagpur school bars Class 4 girl from exam over unpaid fees; case against headmaster, class teacher
Koradi police have booked the headmaster and class teacher of Narayan Vidyalaya after a nine-year-old was kept out of her Hindi exam over pending fees.
A nine-year-old Class 4 girl at Narayan Vidyalaya in Nagpur's Bokhara area was stopped from taking her Hindi exam because her fees were pending. She was allegedly made to sit in the library while her classmates wrote the paper. Police have registered a case against the school's headmaster and class teacher.
The incident is said to have taken place on September 28, 2026, between 9.30 am and 12.30 pm. Because of the outstanding fees, the girl was not given the exam hall ticket and was not allowed to sit the exam. In their complaint, her parents said the child suffered mental distress as a result. They also alleged that the family was pressured and threatened over the dues.
After the parents' complaint, the education department submitted a report on the matter. On the basis of that report, Koradi police registered a case against the class teacher and the headmaster on November 4. The action was taken under Sections 16, 17 and 29 of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, along with Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015.
The incident has raised serious questions about how schools collect fees and about children's right to education. Koradi police are conducting further investigation.
