The owner of Johri Wine Shop at Coffee House Chowk in Nagpur's Dharampeth area was robbed, and the crime branch cracked the case within hours, arresting the accused. The robbery of around Rs 4 lakh took place near the Chief Minister's private residence, causing a stir within the police department. Police have taken nine suspects into custody in connection with the case, including a former employee of the wine shop and two minors.

According to police, wine shop owner Sagar Johri was heading home after closing the shop around 11 pm on Thursday when a group began following him. Near Canal Road, spotting a deserted stretch, the accused blocked his vehicle and the road and assaulted him. They then fled with the cash and other belongings he was carrying.

On learning of the incident, police immediately launched an investigation. Given the seriousness of the case, a crime branch team began examining CCTV footage from cameras in the surrounding area, checking footage along the possible routes the accused could have taken from the wine shop to Canal Road. Information about the suspects' movements was also gathered using technical leads.

During the investigation, police suspected that the accused already knew the shop's closing time and the owner's daily routine. To find out how this information reached them, police began gathering details about the shop's former employees and people connected to the owner.

After the role of a former employee came under suspicion, police detained and questioned him. According to police, leads from this questioning helped them reach the other suspects.

The crime branch's anti-burglary squad acted and took a total of nine suspects into custody, including two minors. Police are now questioning all the suspects to determine who planned the robbery, who carried out the reconnaissance, who followed the owner, and who was directly involved in the assault and the robbery.

Police are also trying to trace where the stolen cash and belongings went. The case remains under investigation, with the roles of all the detained suspects being examined at different levels.
