Nagpur man accused of threatening to demolish temple work to extort priest
Pramod Bhagchandani allegedly demanded Rs 1 lakh from a temple priest in Nagpur, threatening to have ongoing construction pulled down.
Nagpur: Pramod Bhagchandani, described as a blackmailer, allegedly demanded money from a temple priest by threatening to have construction work under way at the temple demolished.
According to the temple priest, Ritesh Pande, Bhagchandani had been coming to the temple every Saturday for some time. Under the pretext of inspecting the construction work, he would find faults in it and threaten to have the structure pulled down. He demanded Rs 1 lakh to let the construction continue safely.
Residents said that if even temple priests are not safe from such extortionists, one can imagine the safety of ordinary traders and citizens.
The source also says that a criminal from Indora Chowk who claims to do social work is involved in the case. There is a demand that action be taken against that person as well.
