Citizens from Jingabai Takli and Godhni met Police Commissioner Vishwas Nangare Patil, demanding action on traffic after Ashwini Phalke and Muskan Devchand died in an accident.

Nagpur: After Ashwini Phalke and Muskan Devchand died in a road accident, the voices of residents of Jingabai Takli and Godhni have finally reached the police department. On Thursday, a large number of citizens carrying photographs of the two women went to the Police Commissioner's office. They met Commissioner Vishwas Nangare Patil and demanded immediate action on the area's poor traffic management.

The residents said plainly that the unchecked movement of heavy vehicles on the Jingabai Takli-Godhni road should be banned. They said heavy vehicles keep the road under a constant risk of accidents. They also demanded that encroachments on the road be removed immediately so that traffic could flow smoothly.

Taking the demands seriously, the Police Commissioner directed the officials concerned to act quickly. He also assured the residents that he would visit the accident site himself and inspect the entire area.

The mood at the Commissioner's office turned emotional as people held up the photographs of Ashwini and Muskan. The anger and grief of the residents, who had come seeking justice and safe traffic after the two women's deaths, was evident.

It remains to be seen whether, after the assurances from the police and the administration, the picture on this dangerous road changes, or whether residents will have to wait for another accident.
