A dispute over money collected from a hostel in Nagpur escalated into an assault. A 36 year old marketing executive was allegedly called in by three people on the pretext of questioning him, then beaten, abused and threatened with a knife. The case falls under the jurisdiction of Kapilnagar police station, where a case has been registered against the accused.
The complainant, Praveen Ambadale, 36, is a marketing executive who is associated with a hostel company along with the accused. According to his complaint, rent paid by hostel residents used to first be credited to his bank account, after which it was withdrawn in cash and handed over to Sonu Tiwari, a senior employee of the hostel.
Hostel owner Syed Faizan allegedly suspected that Praveen, Sonu Tiwari and a woman employee were misappropriating hostel funds.
On September 19, Praveen was allegedly preparing to go to Sadar police station to file a complaint. It is said that when the accused found out about this, they called Praveen to a spot near Nari Metro station on Kamptee Road, in front of KK Hostel.
According to the complaint, Mohammed Saifan, Syed Faizan and Yash Madne were present there. It is alleged that Mohammed Saifan kicked Praveen in the chest, after which the three allegedly abused him and threatened him with a knife.
The accused allegedly pressured Praveen, the woman employee and Sonu Tiwari to admit to the financial irregularity, and also made a video of the entire confrontation.
The complainant has also said that he was later taken towards the Gittikhadan police station area and left outside the station, after which the accused fled.
Praveen sustained injuries in the alleged assault and was treated at Mayo Hospital. Since the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Kapilnagar police, a case has been registered against the three accused under relevant sections there. Police are investigating the allegations and examining the alleged video recording and other evidence linked to the incident.
