The police crackdown on illegal activities in Nagpur city has tightened further. Under the leadership of DCP Deepak Agrawal of the crime branch, different teams carried out a coordinated operation between September 24 and 25, cracking down on illegal liquor sales, drug trafficking, vehicle theft and the sale of banned tobacco products. A total of 23 cases were registered and 23 accused were arrested.

During the entire operation, police seized property worth a total of Rs 13,46,950. A large quantity of MD drugs was recovered, and three stolen vehicles were also seized.

The crime branch carried out two separate operations against MD drug traffickers under the NDPS Act, seizing a total of 69.600 grams of MD. The value of the MD and other seized material is estimated at around Rs 11,31,800. Legal action has been taken against those involved in the drug trafficking under the NDPS Act.

The crime branch also cracked down hard on those selling illegal liquor in the city. Acting under the Maharashtra Prohibition Act, 18 operations were carried out and 19 accused were arrested. Property worth Rs 45,150 was recovered in these cases.

Police also kept a watch on vehicle thieves. The crime branch cracked three cases of vehicle theft and recovered three stolen vehicles worth a total of about Rs 1,70,000. Action has been taken against the accused in these cases under the relevant sections.

The crime branch also took steps to curb the sale of banned tobacco products in the city, registering two cases under the COTPA Act.

Alongside these operations, precautionary steps were also taken to maintain law and order in Nagpur city. The continuing operations make clear that police have taken a tough stance against those involved in illegal liquor, drug trafficking, vehicle theft and the banned tobacco trade. Under the supervision of DCP Crime Deepak Agrawal, crime branch teams tightened the legal noose on accused involved in various crimes while seizing a large quantity of property.
