Nagpur: Class XI girl, 17, gives birth after rape by 18-year-old classmate on marriage promise
A 17-year-old Class XI student in Nagpur gave birth to a baby; Pachpaoli police have booked her 18-year-old classmate under rape and POCSO provisions.
Nagpur: A minor girl was allegedly raped by her classmate on the promise of marriage, and the matter came to light after she gave birth to a baby while pregnant and unknown to her family.
The victim is a 17-year-old Class XI student. She became friends with the 18-year-old accused, who allegedly lured her with a promise of marriage. The accused's parents are labourers.
On the afternoon of August 27, 2025, the accused called the girl to his home in Pachpaoli and, on the promise of marriage, allegedly forced himself on her for the first time. The two then began going around together. Whenever he got the chance, the accused allegedly called her home and had sexual relations with her.
Four months ago, the girl's periods stopped and she informed the accused. He asked her to take abortion medicine. The two then began searching the internet for abortion remedies and, with its help, prepared and drank various herbal concoctions. The victim's parents also work as labourers, and she had not let them get any inkling of her pregnancy.
On October 12, after allegedly drinking a concoction, the girl developed stomach pain and gave birth to a newborn. Her family members were stunned. Seeing the baby's condition, they took the infant to Daga Hospital and took the girl to the Medical College Hospital. There, when a doctor questioned her, she described what had happened. The doctor informed Pachpaoli police.
Police have registered a case under rape and POCSO provisions and begun an investigation. Police were themselves taken aback on learning the facts of the case.
