Nagpur: Biker beats up home guard who asked him to wait in traffic jam near Buddha Park

A case has been registered against a 35-year-old man for assaulting a home guard on traffic duty at Pachpaoli on the night of October 21.

Nagpur: A motorcyclist lost his temper at the sight of a traffic jam and assaulted a home guard who was regulating traffic. The incident took place near Buddha Park in Pachpaoli on the night of October 21. It has raised questions about the safety of police personnel and home guards on duty.

Ghanshyam Raut, 43, who serves in the Maharashtra Home Guard and is posted with the Lakadganj division of the Traffic Branch, was managing traffic near Buddha Park that night. A Royal Enfield Bullet (registration MP 28 MK 8808) arrived from the direction of Indora Chowk, ridden by Mayur Ashok Gajbhiye, 35, a resident of Beltarodi. A young man was seated behind him.

Seeing the jam, the pillion rider asked Raut why the road was blocked and told him to clear it quickly. Raut replied that he was trying to ease the traffic. Mayur took offence at the reply, got off the Bullet in a rage and, abusing Raut, beat him.

On the home guard's complaint, Pachpaoli police have registered a case against Mayur Gajbhiye for assaulting a public servant and obstructing a government employee in the discharge of duty.
