A minor dispute turned deadly in the Wathoda police station area of Nagpur district on Monday night, leaving one man dead. A quarrel between children in the Khadbi locality turned violent within a short time after the accused struck a man on the head with an iron rod, leaving him critically injured.

The injured man died during treatment. The deceased has been identified as Shahbaz Ishaq Shaikh, a resident of Manavshakti Layout. Police have arrested three people in the case, including a woman. Those arrested are Waheed Ansari, Imran Ansari and Rubina Ansari, all residents of Manavshakti Layout.

According to information received, Shahbaz worked on a cutting machine at a shop in the Gandhibagh area. On Monday evening, the children of Shahbaz and Imran were playing in the locality when a quarrel broke out between them over something. Imran's son went home and told his family about it.

Following this, Imran went to Shahbaz's house along with his wife Rubina and challenged him, calling him outside. An argument began between the two over the children's quarrel. During this, Rubina's brother Waheed, who lives in a nearby settlement, also arrived. The situation quickly worsened. The three of them began hurling abuses at Shahbaz and scuffling with him. During this altercation, Waheed struck Shahbaz hard on the head with an iron rod.

Shahbaz collapsed unconscious on the spot from the severe head injury, causing panic in the area. Family members and local residents rushed him to Nagpur Medical Hospital for treatment, but his condition remained critical. Shahbaz died during treatment on Tuesday.

Wathoda police had initially registered a case of assault. After Shahbaz's death, police added a murder charge to the case. It is learnt that Imran works as a painter, while his brother-in-law Waheed works as a mechanic. Angered over the children's quarrel, the entire family had clashed with Shahbaz. Local residents are angry over the incident. All three accused are currently in police custody.
