A disturbing case of one-sided love has emerged from Muzaffarpur in Bihar, where a 22-year-old woman was allegedly attacked with a knife after being harassed. The incident occurred in the area of Motipur police station. The woman was preparing for the Bihar Police constable recruitment and has levelled serious allegations against a man from her own village named Ravi Kumar. She told police that the accused had been following her and pressuring her to talk to him for the past 15 to 20 days.
The woman practises running daily as part of her preparation for the physical efficiency test. On Tuesday, while returning home after her running practice, the accused Ravi Kumar allegedly stopped her on the way in the Dariya Chapra Pokhar area. According to the woman, he pressured her while expressing one-sided love for her. When she resisted, an argument broke out between the two, during which the accused allegedly abused and beat her.
Around this time some people arrived at the spot, after which the accused left and the woman reached home. However, it is alleged that Ravi followed her all the way to her house, where another dispute broke out. According to the woman's complaint, the accused then took out a knife and struck her on the head, injuring her.
When the woman screamed, people nearby began moving towards the spot, following which, police said, the accused fled. The injured woman was admitted to Motipur Community Hospital for treatment. After treatment, she filed a complaint at Motipur police station.
In her complaint, the woman has accused the man of harassment as well as threatening to rape her. She has also alleged that the accused was threatening to kill her father and brother. Police are investigating all these allegations.
According to Suchitra Kumari, DSP of Muzaffarpur's West Division, a case has been registered based on the woman's complaint.
