A Nagpur court has directed Sitabuldi police to register an FIR against three people in a family property dispute over an allegedly forged affidavit.

Umesh Verma, owner of Moonlight Photo Studio in Nagpur's Dharampeth area, is in legal trouble over a family property dispute. A court has directed Sitabuldi police to register an FIR against Umesh Verma, Girish Narayan Agre and Ishwar Shendre.

According to complainant Rajesh Vasudeo Verma (60), his father Vasudeo Hiralal Verma died on May 24, 1990. He was survived by his wife Shakuntala Verma and three sons, Harish, Umesh and Rajesh, who were his legal heirs.

The allegation is that on February 18, 2021, Umesh Verma got an allegedly forged affidavit prepared under notary number 1407. The complainant alleges that he got the property records changed without informing the other heirs or taking their consent.

On the basis of this affidavit, his name was entered at the land records office on October 13, 2022, under mutation entry number 10428. Allegations have also been made about the roles of Girish Agre and Ishwar Shendre in the process.

The complainant approached the court after police did not register an FIR. In Criminal Miscellaneous Application No. 1574/2026, Court No. 2 of the JMFC, Nagpur, on October 27, 2026, ordered that a case be registered under Sections 318(4), 336, 337, 338, 340 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

On October 30, Rajesh Verma submitted a report at Sitabuldi police station. Attention will now be on how the police investigation and further action proceed. The allegations are yet to be confirmed, and the response of the parties concerned is yet to come.

The complainant objects to three things: the change made in the property records, the allegedly forged affidavit used for it, and the mutation entry based on it. Police had initially not registered an FIR, and the order came after the complainant went to court.
