Mumbai Metro-3 Aqua Line to run all night on Anant Chaturdashi
Metro Line-3 will operate through the night on Anant Chaturdashi to help devotees return home after Ganpati immersion.
With Mumbai bracing for huge crowds during Ganesh immersion on Anant Chaturdashi, the last day of Ganeshotsav, authorities have made a major decision for commuters. Mumbai Metro Line-3, the Aqua Line, will run its services all night to help devotees travelling for Ganpati immersion. This will bring major relief to devotees who stay out late for immersion processions and bidding farewell to Bappa.
On Anant Chaturdashi, idols from numerous public Ganeshotsav mandals are immersed across Mumbai. Large numbers of devotees gather at various immersion sites across the city, including Girgaon Chowpatty. Immersion processions for several large idols continue late into the night, and at some places they go on until dawn. This makes the availability of public transport crucial for devotees returning home.
This is why the decision to keep the Aqua Line running all night will benefit commuters. People travelling from South Mumbai and various areas along the Metro-3 route will be able to use this service. Devotees who go to watch the immersion proceedings will particularly get another public transport option for returning late at night.
Mumbai Metro-3's official Twitter handle has informed passengers that on the occasion of Anant Chaturdashi, Metro Line-3, the Aqua Line, will run all night for Ganpati immersion, so that devotees going to bid farewell to Bappa can travel easily.
Round-the-clock metro service can also help reduce the burden of traffic on roads. On the day of immersion, traffic is halted on several routes, routes are diverted, and there are heavy crowds. Because of this, using public transport as much as possible remains commuters' first preference.
However, before travelling, commuters should check official information regarding the timing of this special metro service, frequency of trains, station details and entry-exit points. This special service starting on Anant Chaturdashi will make travel easier for devotees late at night and even at dawn after bidding farewell to Bappa.
