Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde has once again been sent a threat by email. The mayor's office received the threatening email at 11:30 am on Friday (October 23). It has caused a stir in administrative circles and among the police. The mayor had received two such threatening emails earlier as well.

In the email, which arrived at 11:30 am on Friday, the sender described themselves as a representative of the 'Khalistan National Army'. The message makes very serious claims. It mentions attacks between October 31 and November 27.

According to the email, a bomb attack was threatened on the Mumbai mayor's office at 1:11 pm on Friday. It also says a school would be targeted with a bomb attack at 1:11 pm.

The email also warns of bigger attacks in the coming days. It threatens a grenade attack on October 31 and a bomb blast at Mahalaxmi Racecourse on November 27.

The sender raised slogans in support of Khalistan. Referring to the anti-Sikh violence of 1984, the message makes baseless allegations that this is revenge against those who targeted the Sikh community. There is no official independent confirmation yet of who the person or organisation behind the email is. The police are conducting a technical investigation into the matter.

Notably, just two days ago, Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) leader Jitendra Awhad had also received a similar threat. This has raised concern in political and security circles, and the question of security has come to the fore again.

As important people are receiving such threats one after another, the Mumbai Police's cyber cell and crime branch are on alert. Security has been increased at the mayor's office and the surrounding area.
