Mumbai local: Sunday blocks on Central, Harbour and Western lines; some services cancelled

Mumbai commuters planning to travel by suburban train on Sunday should check the details before leaving home. Central Railway will take megablocks on its Main line and Harbour line on Sunday, 25 October, for track repairs and technical work on the signalling system.

Western Railway will also have a night block on the fast line from midnight on Saturday until early Sunday. Because of the blocks, some local services will be cancelled and some trains will run on the slow line. Passengers should plan their journeys carefully.

On Central Railway's Main line, a megablock will be in force on the up and down fast lines between Matunga and Mulund from 11:05 am to 3:45 pm.

Down fast locals leaving Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) will run on the slow line between Matunga and Mulund. These trains will halt at the stations on that stretch. Locals that run on the fast line beyond Thane will be sent back onto the fast line at Mulund.

Up fast locals coming from Thane towards CSMT will run on the slow line between Mulund and Matunga. Passengers on this route may take longer than usual to complete their journey.

On the Harbour line, a block will be in force in both the up and down directions between Kurla and Vashi from 11:10 am to 4:10 pm. During this period, down Harbour locals from CSMT towards Panvel, Belapur and Vashi will be cancelled.

Similarly, up Harbour local services coming from Panvel, Belapur and Vashi towards CSMT will also remain suspended. Harbour line passengers should arrange an alternative route in advance and check which railway services are available.

On Western Railway, a night block will be in force on the up and down fast lines between Santacruz and Goregaon from 12:30 am on Sunday, 24 October's night, until 4:30 am on Sunday. During this time, all fast locals will run on the slow line between Santacruz and Goregaon. Some services may also be cancelled. There will be no block on Western Railway during the day on Sunday.

Passengers are advised to check the local train timetable before setting out on Sunday because of the megablocks on the Central and Harbour lines. Those travelling between Kurla and Vashi and between Matunga and Mulund in particular should allow for delays in their plans.
