Mumbai commuters should check train timetables before stepping out on Sunday. On October 4, 2026, Central Railway and Western Railway will take a mega block and a jumbo block for engineering, maintenance and infrastructure work. Some locals on the Harbour, main and Western lines will be cancelled or diverted as a result.

The first block is on the Harbour line. Central Railway's Mumbai division will take a five-hour mega block on the up and down Harbour lines between Panvel and Vashi from 11.05 am to 4.05 pm. Harbour locals from Panvel towards CSMT between 10.33 am and 3.49 pm will be cancelled. Locals from CSMT towards Belapur-Panvel between 9.45 am and 3.12 pm will also be cancelled.

Passengers on the Panvel-Thane trans-harbour line will also be hit. Services from Panvel towards Thane between 11.02 am and 3.53 pm will be cancelled. Services from Thane towards Panvel between 10.01 am and 3.20 pm will also be cancelled. However, trans-harbour services between Thane and Vashi/Nerul will continue. To reduce inconvenience to passengers, special locals will run between CSMT-Mumbai and Vashi. Locals on the Port line will run as usual.

On the main line, there will be a mega block on the up and down slow lines between CSMT and Vikhroli from 10.55 am to 3.55 pm. During the block, slow locals leaving CSMT will run on the fast line up to Vikhroli. They will stop at Byculla, Parel, Dadar, Matunga, Sion and Kurla. At Vikhroli they will return to the slow line.

Slow locals from Ghatkopar towards CSMT between 10.19 am and 3.52 pm will also run on the fast line between Vikhroli and CSMT. They will stop at Kurla, Sion, Matunga, Dadar, Parel and Byculla.

On Western Railway, a jumbo block will be taken on Sunday on the up fast line and the 5th line between Borivali and Ram Mandir stations from 10 am to 2 pm. The block is for maintenance of the track, signalling system and overhead equipment. During this period, trains on the up fast line between Borivali and Andheri will run on the up slow line and the 6th line. Trains on the 5th line between Andheri and Borivali will be diverted to the down fast line.

Some up and down suburban local services on Western Railway will be cancelled. Some Andheri and Borivali locals will run up to Goregaon on the Harbour line.

Overall, the October 4 blocks will affect schedules for passengers on the Central, Harbour and Western lines. The railway administration has appealed to passengers to check available services and alternative routes before leaving home and plan their travel accordingly.
