Farukh was born in Ambernath, Maharashtra. He is no stranger to the Islanders, as Mumbai City are known. He played six matches for the club in the 2020-21 Indian Super League (ISL) season.
He subsequently represented Jamshedpur FC and Chennaiyin FC. In his career, Farukh has played 126 matches in the Indian Super League, with seven goals and 10 assists to his name.
Farukh has also represented the Indian national team. He has played 24 matches for the Blue Tigers and scored three goals. Speaking about his return, Farukh said it was very important to him.

Mumbai City head coach Manolo Marquez also spoke about Farukh. He said, "Farukh is a player we know very well. He has qualities that can be very useful to us.
