The Women and Child Development department has credited this year's Bhaubeej gift directly to the bank accounts of over 10,200 anganwadi workers and helpers in Mumbai ahead of Diwali.

Diwali will be sweeter than usual this year for anganwadi workers and helpers in Mumbai. The Women and Child Development department has credited this year's Bhaubeej gift directly to their bank accounts ahead of the festival.

Child Development Project Officer Bhausaheb Torkar shared the news in a press note. According to him, the decision has brought cheer to more than 10,200 anganwadi workers and helpers in Mumbai.

Earlier, the gift was distributed from the district level in different ways. This time, the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Commissionerate took a new step and transferred the amount straight into the bank accounts of the workers and helpers. As the money reached the intended women directly, the whole distribution process has become simpler, faster and more transparent.

The Commissionerate's Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) has given the women substantial financial support just ahead of the festival. Help arriving on time has also doubled their enthusiasm for work, and the workers and helpers in Mumbai are celebrating Diwali with zeal and joy this year.

The gift is being seen as recognition of their continuous hard work and contribution. Given at Diwali, the Bhaubeej gift is in the truest sense an honour for their work.

Anganwadi workers and helpers do the vital job of taking the department's various schemes to the last person. Looking after the health and nutrition of pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, newborns and children under six is their main responsibility.

Measuring children's weight and height, conducting malnutrition surveys, advising mothers and children on health, and fostering children's all-round development through pre-primary education are all tasks they carry out.

In addition, under the government's Poshan Abhiyaan, these women register beneficiaries on the Poshan Tracker system, keep regular track of children's growth, maintain accurate records of nutrition distribution and submit reports from time to time. The major task of spreading awareness about health and nutrition in society also rests with them. The contribution of the helpers in all this is equally valuable.
