MP Pratibha Dhanorkar attends Gandhi Jayanti non-violence march in Chandrapur
A Ahimsa Padyatra was held in Chandrapur on Gandhi Jayanti, with hundreds of citizens and Congress office-bearers joining MP Pratibha Dhanorkar.
A non-violence march (Ahimsa Padyatra) was held in Chandrapur on Friday, October 2, 2026, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. It was organised by 'Gandhiji Ke Raste'. MP Pratibha Dhanorkar was the chief guest.
The march began at Gandhi Chowk, passed through the main roads of the city and ended at Gandhi Chowk. Hundreds of citizens, women, youth and Congress office-bearers took part.
At the conclusion, Dhanorkar paid tribute to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the Nation, by garlanding it. The flag was then hoisted there by her.
Speaking on the occasion, Dhanorkar said, "The lessons of truth, non-violence, self-reliance and Sarvodaya that Mahatma Gandhi gave are very important today for keeping society together. Economic equality, protection of the environment, social harmony, Gram Swarajya and the development of the last section of society are the real direction of the ideas of Gandhi and Vinoba. There is an urgent need today to further strengthen the spirit of peace, moral values and unity in the country, and the Congress party is always committed to walking this path."
She added, "Through today's march, we resolve to take these ideas of Gandhiji and the spirit of Sarvodaya to every household and ordinary people. I sincerely thank the hundreds of citizens and workers who joined in large numbers and gave the march an outstanding response."
Those present included Rajura Municipal Council president Arun Dhote, city district Congress president Shiva Rao, women's district Congress president Kunda Jenekar, Chanda Vairagade of the city district Congress, Professional Congress district president Ramkrishna Kondra, minority cell district president Sohail Raza and Sewa Dal district president Sachin Katyal.
Also present were Municipal Corporation group leader Surendra Adbale, senior Congress leaders Vinayak Bangde, Vinod Dattatraya, Subhash Gaur, K. K. Singh, Praveen Padvekar, Manish Tiwari, Shamkant There, Nisar Sheikh, Ejaz Sheikh and Sunita Govardhan, Ishwar Gaurkar of the District Sarvodaya Mandal, and corporators and office-bearers.
