MLA Sunil Shelke announces Rs 2 crore for roads outside Talegaon Dabhade limits
MLA Sunil Shelke announced Rs 2 crore for roads and basic amenities in settlements outside the Talegaon Dabhade council limits after a march on the council.
MLA Sunil Shelke has announced a fund of Rs 2 crore to build roads and basic amenities in settlements outside the limits of the Talegaon Dabhade Municipal Council. He also assured residents that he would pursue, at the government level, the inclusion of the rural area of Talegaon Dabhade within the council limits.
The announcement followed a march on the council by the Talegaon Dabhade Gramin Kruti Samiti. The samiti had demanded that the limits be extended and that these settlements get basic amenities. After the march, Shelke reached the protest site and spoke to the protesters. After hearing the problems of the various settlements, he announced Rs 2 crore for road works. Those present welcomed the announcement with loud applause.
On behalf of the Kruti Samiti, a memorandum was submitted to mayor Santosh Dabhade Patil and chief officer Girish Dapkekar. It demanded that settlements such as Ganpati Mal, Shinde Vasti, Kakde Vasti and Thakarwadi (1 to 3) be given basic amenities and services through the council. It also demanded that the rural area of Talegaon Dabhade be brought within the council limits.
Mayor Santosh Dabhade Patil said he would try to ensure that the government decides quickly on the proposal to extend the limits. He said garbage collection would be started on a fee basis. Once the water supply scheme is completed, a water tax would be levied with the approval of the general body, as per rules, and efforts would be made to supply water to these areas. He also said action would be taken to start electricity supply immediately up to Akar Foundry within the council limits.
The march was attended by mayor Santosh Dabhade Patil, deputy mayor Ganesh Kakade, chief officer Girish Dapkekar and BJP group leader Indrakumar Oswal. They were joined by chairpersons of various committees, councillors, office-bearers, office-bearers of the Kruti Samiti and a large number of citizens. Women were also present in good numbers.
Shelke heard the protesters' demands and said he understood their difficulties. He said he would raise the question of extending the limits with the government and try to resolve it. Ganesh Shinde thanked everyone at the end.
