Mini launches Cooper Oxford Edition in India at Rs 55.50 lakh ex-showroom

The special edition, built on the Cooper S 3-door Favoured pack, was unveiled at the opening of a new dealership in Lucknow and will come in limited numbers.

Mini has launched its special Mini Cooper Oxford Edition in India. The ex-showroom price of the special edition is Rs 55.50 lakh. The car was unveiled in Lucknow at the opening of a new dealership.

The car is built on the Cooper S 3-door Favoured pack. The edition marks 25 years of production of modern Mini cars at the Oxford factory in Britain. It will come to India in limited numbers and is imported as a CBU (completely built unit), that is, fully assembled.

It is available in two colours, Indigo Sunset Blue and Chilli Red. Both come with a white contrast roof carrying a Union Jack design. Red and white stripes give the car a distinctly British look. A sticker at the rear combines the British flag and a racing flag.

The car also gets white mirror caps, 18-inch alloy wheels and special wheel hub covers. The LED headlamps and Matrix tail lamps offer a choice of different lighting signatures.

The British theme continues in the cabin, with special designs on the steering wheel, floor mats and door sills. The Vescin black JCW sport seats come with electric adjustment, massage and ventilation for the driver's seat. A panoramic glass roof makes the cabin feel more open.

The car has a 240 mm circular OLED touchscreen running Operating System 9, with support for Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and voice commands. Digital Key Plus, a head-up display, a Harman Kardon sound system, wireless charging and navigation are also provided.

Power comes from a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine producing 201 hp and 300 Nm of torque. Power goes to the front wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The car reaches 100 km/h from standstill in 6.6 seconds, and its claimed top speed is 242 km/h.

For safety, the car has airbags, an anti-lock braking system, dynamic stability control, brake assist, cruise control, parking assist and a reversing camera. Adaptive suspension and JCW sport brakes add to the driving experience.

Bookings are open at authorised dealerships. The company has said deliveries have begun immediately. The Rs 55.50 lakh price is ex-showroom, so the on-road price may vary with the city, insurance and registration charges.
