MCOCA slapped on five accused of trying to burn man alive in Nagpur
Sadar police invoked MCOCA against five men accused of attacking and trying to set a 24-year-old man on fire in Nagpur in June 2026
Nagpur: Sadar police have invoked the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against five accused who allegedly tried to burn a young man alive in an attempt to kill him. According to police, the accused are members of an organised gang and face multiple cases in Nagpur city including attempt to murder, assault and possession of illegal weapons. The latest case dates back to June 2026.
According to police, the accused, Shakeel Khan (40), Sujal Jorof Paul (20), Sajid Shaikh (26), Saleem Khan (40) and Raja Khan (30), all residents of Goa Colony near Santoshi Mata Mandir, Sadar, unlawfully assembled and attacked Lucky Naresh Dasar (24). With intent to kill, they allegedly attacked Lucky with sticks and knives and tried to burn him alive. In this case, Sadar police station had registered a case under Sections 109, 189(2), 189(4), 296 and 115(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act.
During investigation, police found that the accused belonged to an organised gang, with several previous cases registered against them. Based on this, action was taken against them under MCOCA.
