Maruti Suzuki adds AMT gearbox option to CNG Swift, Dzire and Baleno
Maruti Suzuki now offers an automatic gearbox with CNG in the Swift, Dzire and Baleno under its Auto Green Mission programme
Maruti Suzuki has made a major update to its CNG car lineup. The company has now added an AMT gearbox option alongside CNG in the Swift, Dzire and Baleno. Until now, customers could buy these CNG cars only with a manual gearbox; they now have the option of an automatic gearbox as well.
The new CNG AMT variants have been introduced under the company's new Auto Green Mission programme, which combines its S-CNG technology with an AMT gearbox.
On price, the new Swift CNG AMT has a starting ex-showroom price of Rs 7.92 lakh. The Dzire CNG AMT is priced at Rs 8.53 lakh and the Baleno CNG AMT at Rs 8.32 lakh. The company has clarified that these launch prices are part of festive and introductory offers, and may change later.
On mileage, the Dzire leads the three cars. The company claims the Dzire CNG AMT delivers a mileage of 36.47 km/kg. The claimed mileage for the Swift CNG AMT is 35.34 km/kg, while the Baleno CNG AMT's is 34.47 km/kg. This shows the company has aimed to offer both better mileage for daily use and the convenience of automatic driving.
The AMT gearbox reduces the hassle of frequent clutch and gear changes, especially in city traffic. Maruti Suzuki has also focused on improving fuel efficiency by using the IGS function in the CNG system. The company believes this new option will make driving a CNG car easier than before.
Maruti Suzuki has one of the country's largest factory-fitted S-CNG portfolios. A CNG option is already available in cars such as the WagonR, Celerio, Swift, Dzire, Baleno, Fronx, Brezza, Ertiga and XL6. In financial year 2025-26, the company sold around 7.46 lakh CNG cars, 22 percent more than the previous year. With AMT now added to the Swift, Dzire and Baleno, CNG car buyers have another option available to them.
