A roller coaster accident at Six Flags Over Georgia, a well-known amusement park in the US state of Georgia, has left one man dead. The ride was in motion when the man was thrown out of the car and died on the spot. Some people were also injured. Panic spread through the park after the accident.

Eyewitnesses said the roller coaster was moving at high speed when the man was thrown from the car. One eyewitness said that as he fell, he struck the roller coaster car three times. His body also hit other passengers. He finally landed on the roof of the haunted house. The ride's camera was taking photographs at the time, so the entire scene was captured.

A woman said everyone had been having fun and screaming, but everything changed in an instant. The screams of fun turned into screams of fear.

After the accident, the roller coaster stopped on an incline, leaving passengers in the rear cars stuck at height. A video shows safety staff putting up a ladder and bringing the passengers down. They were in the car directly behind the one in which the accident happened.

The man is said to have been on the ride with his son. His wife and daughter were standing below and watched it happen.

The cause of the accident is not yet known. Whether a seat belt fault or a technical failure was responsible is being investigated. Officers of the serious crimes unit are conducting the investigation.

The entire park was closed immediately after the accident. Six Flags said its staff and local police began helping as soon as the incident occurred, and that it is cooperating fully with the investigation. The man's family has been informed.

Lisa Cupid, chairwoman of the Cobb County Commission, said the park had given generations happy memories. She said it was deeply painful that such an accident should happen where people come to enjoy themselves. She said the pain of those who saw it with their own eyes could not be imagined, and that everyone was shaken by the incident.

The accident has also raised questions about the safety of other amusement parks in the US.
