Indian warships appear in US Navy Day posts shared by American politicians, drawing questions online
Photographs of Indian Navy warships were used in greetings for US Navy Day posted on social media, and users are asking how the mix-up happened.
A new controversy has erupted over some social media posts put out to greet the US Navy on its day. Pictures used to praise the American navy turned out to show warships of the Indian Navy.
Some political leaders in the United States have also shared such posts, which has set off discussion on social media. Users are asking how photographs of Indian warships came to be used for an event linked to the US Navy.
On US Navy Day, several political leaders and government officials issued greetings on social media. Some of the pictures attached to these messages showed Indian Navy warships. A post shared by Georgia Governor Brian Kemp used a picture of Indian Navy warships. This is why the use of Indian Navy photographs while greeting the US Navy has become a talking point.
Not only the Indian Navy: pictures of Russian Navy warships were also used. Surprise is being expressed that wrong pictures appeared in the social media posts of some American political figures. The question now being asked is whether the pictures were properly checked while preparing posts about an important defence institution such as the navy.
After this came to light, social media users began reacting to the posts concerned. They are asking how the lapse of mistaking Indian warships for American ones occurred. The pictures used are said to include Indian Navy warships such as INS Godavari, INS Brahmaputra and INS Beas. These warships are regarded as symbols of India's naval strength. This is why the appearance of Indian warships in a US Navy Day post has become a subject of discussion on social media.
