Man booked for false murder call to Nagpur police
A Nagpur resident who told police via emergency helpline 112 that his brother had killed or was about to kill him was found to have lied
A man created panic among police in the Hudkeshwar police station area of Nagpur by giving false information about a murder on the emergency helpline 112. At 8 pm on September 18, Shyam Bhaurao Janorkar, 40, a resident of Shrikrishna Nagar, Hudkeshwar, called 112 and told police that his brother had attacked him with a knife and killed him or was about to kill him.
On hearing Shyam's call, police swung into action. Police Sub-Inspector Praveen Bakre, constables Ravidutt Tambe and Ashish, and beat marshal Head Constable Someshwar Bulbule rushed to the spot immediately. On reaching the location, it emerged that Shyam's information was false.
Police questioned Shyam Janorkar, but he could not give a satisfactory answer. A search did not turn up any knife, and there was no sign of bloodshed either. Police confirmed that Shyam had misled them by giving false information on the 112 helpline. Based on a complaint by Head Constable Someshwar Bulbule, a case has been registered against Shyam Janorkar under Section 217 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
