Man booked for false murder call to Dial 112 in Nagpur
A Nagpur man who called Dial 112 seven to eight times claiming his brother had stabbed him to death was booked after the report proved false
A strange case of misleading the police has come to light in the Hudkeshwar area of Nagpur. A man called Dial 112 not once or twice but seven to eight times in a row, claiming that his brother had stabbed and killed him. Police took the report seriously and immediately sent a team to the spot, but when the investigation began, the entire story turned out to be false. Police then registered a case against the man for giving false information.
The incident is said to have occurred around 8 pm on the night of September 18. Shyam Bhaurao Janorkar, 40, a resident of Shrikrishna Nagar in Hudkeshwar, repeatedly called Dial 112. On the call, he told police that his brother had attacked or was about to attack him with a knife, and that he had been murdered.
On receiving the serious information about a knife attack and murder, Hudkeshwar police station immediately swung into action. On the instructions of Senior Police Inspector Anamika Mirzapure, a team left for the spot, comprising Sub-Inspector Praveen Bakre, police personnel Ravidutt Tambe and Ashish, and beat marshal Havildar Someshwar Bulbule.
But when police reached the spot and began questioning him, several holes appeared in the story. Shyam Janorkar could not give any proper answers to the police's questions and kept evading them during the questioning. The investigation found no sign of any knife attack, nor had any murder taken place. In other words, the report he had given was entirely fabricated.
It became clear to police that false information had been deliberately given on Dial 112 to mislead the police administration. Following this, under the supervision of Senior Police Inspector Anamika Mirzapure, Sub-Inspector Praveen Bakre registered a case against Shyam Janorkar under Section 217 of the BNS, based on a complaint by Havildar Someshwar Bulbule.
Police are now pursuing further legal action in the case. Overall, police had rushed to the spot without delay on receiving the murder report, but the investigation found everything to be false. The man is now facing legal action for wasting police time and resources by giving false information.
