Nagpur: A young man was beaten up and threatened at knifepoint after being accused of embezzling hostel funds. The incident took place in the Kapilnagar police station area.

Praveen Ambadale, 36, works as a marketing executive. According to the complaint, he and the accused are associated with a hostel company. Rent paid by hostel residents used to come into Praveen's account. The rent amount was later deposited in cash with Sonu Tiwari, a senior staff member at the hostel. Over this money, hostel owner Sayyed Faizan had accused Praveen Ambadale, Sonu Tiwari and a woman employee of embezzlement.

On September 19, Praveen was going to file a complaint at Sadar police station. When the accused learnt of this, they called him to a spot near Nari Metro Station on Kamptee Road, in front of K.K. Hostel. The accused, Mohammad Saifan, Sayyed Faizan and Yash Madne, were present there. Mohammad Saifan kicked Praveen in the chest. The three then abused him, showed a knife and threatened to kill him. They pressured Praveen, the woman employee and Sonu Tiwari to confess to embezzling the money, and also made a video of this.

They then took Praveen to Gittikhadan and left him outside the police station there before fleeing. Since the incident occurred within the Kapilnagar police station area, Kapilnagar police have registered a case on Praveen's complaint and begun investigating.
