Make sitaphal basundi at home for Diwali Padwa and serve it with hot puris

For something different and tasty on Diwali Padwa, sitaphal (custard apple) basundi is a good option. Custard apples are available in large quantities in the market during the cold season. Sitaphal basundi and puri make a very good combination.

Made with thick milk, custard apple and saffron, this basundi will be liked by everyone. It makes the mouth water at the sight of it. It can also be made in advance. To entertain guests during Diwali, or for the festival's special meal, sitaphal basundi can be made at home instead of buying sweets from the market. Here is the recipe.

First, gather the ingredients. You will need custard apple, milk, milk powder, sugar, saffron strands, cardamom powder, dry fruits and rose petals.

Start by taking out the custard apple pulp. Peel the custard apple over a sieve and separate the pulp.

Now put milk to heat in a kadhai. Once the milk comes to a boil, turn the gas to low heat and keep stirring with a spoon.

When the milk thickens a little, add the milk powder and mix well. Add sugar, cardamom powder and saffron strands to taste, and mix again.

Then turn off the gas. When the mixture cools a little, add the custard apple pulp and dry fruits and mix.

The quick sitaphal basundi is ready. It can also be made to welcome guests who come home.
