A major fire broke out behind Kamgar Maidan in Mumbai's Prabhadevi, and fire brigade teams are trying to bring it under control; no injuries have been officially reported.

A major fire broke out suddenly in the area behind Kamgar Maidan in Prabhadevi, one of the most crowded localities of Mumbai, the country's financial capital. Large plumes of black smoke soon spread across the area.

The area is known for heavy movement of people and vehicles. Seeing the leaping flames and smoke, people nearby panicked and ran in different directions. There was commotion across the locality.

Given the seriousness of the situation, local residents immediately alerted the emergency services. On receiving the information, fire brigade personnel and a police team rushed to the spot.

The fire brigade is spraying water on a war footing to stop the fire from spreading and to bring it under control as quickly as possible. Firefighters are working with all their strength to put it out.

The police are getting the entire stretch vacated so that the smoke can clear quickly and people remain safe.

There is no official report so far of anyone being injured or killed. As a precaution, ambulances and other emergency services have been kept ready at the spot. Security agencies are on alert, and people have been urged to be careful.

The cause of the fire, whether a short circuit or something else, is not yet clear. The exact cause will be known only after the fire is fully brought under control.
