Mahindra & Mahindra sold 64,092 utility vehicles in India in September 2026, against 56,233 a year earlier, while exports fell 7%.
Mahindra & Mahindra posted a strong performance in its SUV segment in September 2026. The company sold 64,092 utility vehicles in the Indian market, against 56,233 units in the same month last year, a 14% rise in domestic SUV sales.
Counting domestic sales and exports together, Mahindra sold a total of 1,14,874 vehicles in September. The company's total sales rose 15%. The figures show that the steady arrival of new and updated SUV models is drawing a good response in the utility vehicle segment.
In the first six months of FY2027, from April to September 2026, Mahindra sold 3,58,142 utility vehicles, against 2,97,570 units in the same period of the previous financial year. That is a 20% increase, or 60,572 more SUVs than last year.
The commercial vehicle segment also grew. Sales of light commercial vehicles (LCVs) weighing less than 2 tonnes were 4,044 units in September, up 19%. In the 2 tonne to 3.5 tonne category, sales reached 26,376 units, up 13%.
Three-wheeler sales also did well in September. The segment, including electric models, sold 16,343 units, against 13,017 units last year, a 26% rise.
The picture was somewhat different for exports. Exports fell 7% in September. The company shipped 4,019 vehicles, against 4,320 last year. Even so, exports for April to September reached 30,031 units, a 48% increase.
More models are due to join Mahindra's SUV line-up. The company has hopes for models such as a compact SUV based on the Vision S concept, the premium BE7 and the Lifestyler pickup based on the Scorpio N. Mahindra's competition in the SUV market could therefore intensify further.
