Mahindra has introduced a new Bold Edition of its popular Bolero SUV. The edition carries a bronze theme on the exterior and interior. Black leatherette seats and a rear-view camera are the main changes. No change has been made to the engine or performance. The company has tried to keep the Bolero's usual sturdy look while giving it a distinct and attractive face.
On the outside, the SUV gets bronze-finish alloy wheels, bronze-inspired design elements at the front and more prominent cladding on the sides. Roof rails are also included. The boxy shape and tall SUV stance are retained.
The cabin has bronze accents along with black leatherette seats, so the exterior and interior designs follow one theme. The rear-view camera is an important feature of this edition. It can help while parking and while reversing in tight spaces.
On the engine, the 1,493 cc mHawk75 3-cylinder turbo diesel is retained. It produces 76 PS of power at 3,600 rpm and 210 Nm of torque between 1,600 and 2,200 rpm. It is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox and a rear-wheel-drive setup. The vehicle has a 60-litre fuel tank, and the engine complies with BS6 Stage 2 emission norms.
The SUV is 3,995 mm long, 1,745 mm wide and 1,880 mm tall. The wheelbase is 2,680 mm, and the 5+2 seating configuration seats seven people. The regular Bolero gets ABS, dual front airbags, reverse parking sensors and seatbelt reminders. Select variants also have a touchscreen, steering-mounted audio controls and a USB Type-C charging port.
The ex-showroom price of the regular Bolero starts at Rs 8.57 lakh. The B4 variant costs Rs 8.57 lakh, the B6 Rs 9.37 lakh, the B6(O) Rs 9.69 lakh and the top B8 variant Rs 9.99 lakh. The company has not yet announced the price of the accessories package offered for the Bold Edition.
Overall, the edition focuses on styling and additional accessories rather than mechanical changes. How much extra customers will have to pay for this new look will become clear only once the package price is announced.
