Northerly and north-easterly winds are strengthening over Maharashtra, and minimum temperatures are forecast to fall by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the next two to three days.

The influence of winds blowing from the north and north-east is gradually increasing over Maharashtra, and a hint of winter is beginning to be felt in the state. According to the latest forecast of the weather department, skies will remain clear and the weather dry over most parts of the state in the next few days.

Skies are forecast to stay fully clear and the weather mainly dry over Konkan-Goa, Central Maharashtra and Marathwada for the next three days. No chance of rain has been indicated during this period.

On temperatures, the weather department said no major or significant change in maximum temperatures is expected over Maharashtra and neighbouring Gujarat in the next 4 to 5 days. Temperatures in different parts of the state are expected to be recorded around the average. However, there is a considerable likelihood of a change in minimum temperatures, that is, the chill at night and in the early hours.

There will be no major immediate change in minimum temperatures in Maharashtra in the next 24 hours. After that, minimum temperatures are expected to come down gradually by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the next 2 to 3 days. The fall will make the pleasant chill more noticeable in some parts of the state, and the air will begin to feel cool in the early hours.

In Mumbai, the state's financial capital, and its suburbs, people may get mild coolness in the morning and evening, while the afternoon may remain hot and humid. The forecast for Mumbai for the next two days is as follows.

In the next 24 hours, skies over Mumbai city and the suburbs will be mostly clear. The maximum temperature in the city is expected to be around 36 degrees Celsius and the minimum around 22 degrees Celsius.

Over the next 48 hours too, skies in Mumbai are likely to stay clear, but temperatures may dip slightly. The maximum temperature could come down to 35 degrees Celsius and the minimum to 21 degrees Celsius.

Given the state's weather, weather experts have appealed to people to take care of their health, especially in view of the heat of the sun and the changing night temperatures.
