Lakhimpur Kheri: Woman teacher shot dead in school, accused kills himself
A man allegedly shot a woman teacher inside a school in Lakhimpur Kheri and then shot himself, killing both.
A shocking case has come to light from Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri district, where a woman teacher was shot dead inside a school. The accused is alleged to have shot himself after shooting her, killing both. The teacher has been identified as Nishat Fatima and the accused as Saud Ansari. The two had known each other for about eleven years and had studied at the same school.
Syed Ilyas, a resident of Sumernagar village under Sampurnanagar police station, currently works in Saudi Arabia. About eleven years ago, he had come to Lakhimpur with his wife, daughter Nishat Fatima and two sons. At that time he had rented the house belonging to the accused Saud's father. This is how the two families became acquainted, and Nishat and Saud grew closer over time.
Nishat Fatima and Saud Ansari are said to have studied together at Children's Academy school, where both passed their class 12 examinations. They are reported to have been in a relationship during their school years. After this, the two went to different colleges for further studies.
About a year ago, Nishat Fatima got a job as a teacher at the same Children's Academy school. It is said that after getting the job, she had reduced contact with Saud. Around the same time, it emerged that Nishat's marriage had been fixed elsewhere. Sources say this was the reason Saud was upset.
The incident is said to have occurred around eleven in the morning. According to the allegation, Saud Ansari arrived at the school with a pistol in his bag. He allegedly shot Nishat Fatima near a classroom and then shot himself. Both died in the incident.
CCTV footage from before the incident has also surfaced, reportedly showing the accused Saud Ansari holding Nishat Fatima and dragging her towards the school's first floor. Police are using this footage to try to establish exactly what happened before the incident.
Panic broke out on the school premises the moment the gunshots were heard, spreading fear among students and staff present. On receiving information, police reached the spot, inspected the scene and began an investigation.
Police are now trying to establish how the accused reached the school premises, where he obtained the pistol from, and exactly what happened between Nishat and Saud before the shooting. Along with the CCTV footage, other evidence is also being examined to establish the full sequence of events.
