Ketan Agarwal murder probe: accused also considered breaking his arms and legs, police say
Police say fiancée Siya Goyal did not want to marry the Pune businessman and that she and Chetan Chaudhari once considered having his limbs broken.
The murder of Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal, 25, has been talked about across Maharashtra. The investigation has now brought out some new details. According to the police probe, Ketan's fiancée Siya Goyal did not want to marry him at all. She had said this in front of several friends.
The probe has also found that, before the murder, Siya and her boyfriend Chetan Chaudhari had considered taking Ketan to another state and having his arms and legs broken. It is alleged that the two accused had this plan in mind. However, a friend living in another state opposed it and the idea did not go further.
According to the police, Ritesh Hange had also spoken about this to a friend living in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The friend had said plainly, "Are you mad? Don't do anything like this." The police have recorded this friend's statement and it is part of the chargesheet.
During the investigation, the police also examined social media and digital evidence. The accused Chetan had opened an Instagram account under the name "Mahi". The police have collected digital evidence linked to it.
Meanwhile, senior lawyer Ujjwal Nikam has been appointed special public prosecutor in the case. The responsibility of placing the evidence recorded in the chargesheet and the witnesses' statements before the court will now rest with the special prosecution.
The police have recorded the statements of everyone to whom Siya said she did not want to marry Ketan. After the murder, the police carried the investigation forward on the basis of suspects, their contacts, the sequence of events, digital evidence and other available evidence. All of this has been included in a chargesheet of 5,300 pages. In court hearings, the admissibility of this evidence and the testimony on it will be crucial.
The police had said at the outset that the two accused had been preparing for about a month and a half. The investigation later found that coded words had been used. Now a chat is going viral in which it is written, "The wedding will not happen anyway...". This one line has given the investigation a new turn. The police, however, are examining the chat.
